WTJR raising funds for a Digital HDTV upgrade.

  

   As you may know the FCC mandated TV stations     to go digital, known as DTV. WTJR accomplished this by converting our old video signal to digital at the tower site, on input to our DTV transmitter. We need to upgrade our signal through our entire broadcast chain so in the future we can transmit wide screen High Definition programming and more sub channels. This upgrade is part of that process. The cost estimate:

Channel encoding:

   MediaHub HD encoder $9000
LI Mux 3rd stream license & firmware $3500
BE90A Upconverter $3600
Satellite receiver for LifeStyle (WTJR 16.3) $1500

Satellite dish for CTNi (WTJR 16.2) $1150

Digital STL Link to tower site:
   One ASI to BB Modulator
   One BB to ASI Demodulator
   Total Cost for the set: $6250

Basic HD Upgrade Total $25,000

 

   This will upgrade the link from our studio to our tower site, so we can have digital channel(s) from master control at our downtown studio. Also, this will allow us our third sub-channel, Channel 16.3 CTN Lifestyle.
